A shruti box is a small wooden hand-pumped instrument that traditionally works on a system of bellows. It is similar to a harmonium, without the keys, and is used to provide a drone for singing or playing with other instruments.
To play, open one or more of the reeds by pushing the toggle to the side and unlatch the integral bellows. It is essential that at least one reed be open when you pump the bellows.
This fine shruti box features 13 brass reeds with 13 imitation ivory side mounted controls, combinations of which can produce single tone or chords via its integral bellows.
Each shruti box has a handle and plastic feet for easy placement during play.
