This Turkish Duduk or Mey is approximately 11.5 inches in length before the reed is installed. This instrument is crafted from mulberry with 7 holes on the top and a single hole on the bottom.
The Eastern designation of SOL corresponds to the Western designation of "Key of G." One Reed is included.
The duduk is a traditional woodwind instrument of Armenian origins. It is a double reed instrument which has ancient origins, said to be from 1500 to 3000 years old. Unlike other double-reed instruments, the reed is quite wide, helping to give the duduk its unique, mournful sound.
Reed sizes will vary so for a proper fit use hemp or bee's wax, and/or sand the reed end to fit.
