This elegant Blackwood Bombard is approximately 12.25 inches long with a 3 inch diameter bell. A cane reed is included.
The bombard is a small, double-reed instrument, similar to a soprano shawm in range but shorter in length. This bombard, in the key of D, is slightly shorter than a soprano recorder in the key of C.
Bombards are still used in some Celtic music. They are quite loud and project a high, penetrating tone despite their small size.
