The harp is a stringed instrument of ancient origins, most likely independently invented in many parts of the world. During the 15th century the harp came to be made of four main parts, a pillar, neck, resonator and strings which are plucked with the fingers. Various types of harps have been found in Africa, Europe, North, and South America and a few parts of Asia. In antiquity, harps and the closely related lyres, were very prominent in nearly every musical culture.
You can share a bit of that antiquity through our beautiful renditions of the Kinnor, the Nevel, the Lyre and Lute harps, and the Egyptian Semsemia. But, as you’ve come to expect from Sound World Instruments…we’re just getting started. You must see our impressive stable of Contemporary, Celtic, Cross Strung, Gothic and Mini Harps. The Early Music Shop of Bradford, England, adds their own special brand of excellence to the line of Round Back Harps, which are sure to delight! You'll love our high quality harp strings and harps for sale.
And, as always, we strive to provide comprehensive instructional materials in a variety of formats and all of the harp accessories necessary for your continued “melodic nirvana!”
